As of May 1st, abortion in Florida is banned after 6 weeks. The law provides exceptions for fatal fetal diagnosis, to save the life of the patient, or for victims of reported rape, incest, or human trafficking, with added documentation in some instances.
Some people in banned states are still accessing abortion care through travel, supported, or self-managed abortion.
The only way we will overturn Florida's abortion ban and protect our right to abortion is if we vote YES on 4 in November.
As of August 26th 2024, a federal appeals court has overturned Judge Hickle's ruling against the gender-affirming care ban, permitting Florida to enforce it.
The law reinstated by this decision bans the prescription of puberty blockers and hormone treatments to minors, even with parental consent. Additionally, the law mandates that transgender adults can only receive treatment from a doctor and not from a registered nurse or other qualified medical practitioner. Adults who want the treatment must be in the room with the physician when signing the consent form. No matter what happens, community networks have our back.
Trans rights are human rights.
