When politicians revoked our right to abortion, Floridians came together to form the Floridians Protecting Freedom coalition and launched an abortion ballot initiative to protect the right to abortion.
Black In Repro
Black in Repro is a workgroup in the Floridians for Reproductive Freedom coalition that is made up of Black organizers, political operatives, consultants, providers, founders, community organizations, and experts in contraceptive access, abortion and prenatal doula care, policymaking, youth engagement, strategy, event planning and more.
Florida For Reproductive Freedom
In 2016, members of the Florida Pro-Choice Coalition recognized the need to transition from an information sharing network to a policy-setting group that creates collaborative strategies to advance abortion rights and beat back efforts of anti-abortion extremists. Representatives from various allied groups began conceiving of a plan to re-envision, restructure, and reboot the coalition.
SWAN Clinic Defenders
S.W.A.N. of Central Florida aims to provide patients safe access to critical medical and abortion care. As clinic escorts, they volunteer to protect patients from the harassment of nasty, misogynistic, and sometimes violent protestors as they seek family planning services with the support of their doctor.
Florida National Organization for Women
NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women, girls, and non-binary people in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.
